FAQs About Eye Care at
Six One Six Vision Center

What insurances do you accept?

We accept the majority of insurances seen in our community. Please contact us with questions about your particular insurer.

What is the difference between vision insurance and medical insurance?

Vision insurance usually pays for routine eye exams. Your particular plan may also help pay for your glasses or contact lenses. Because our doctors are also able to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions such as an eye infection or glaucoma, your medical insurance may be used for your eye care exam.

How much are your eye exams?

This question has many variables to it, such as insurance coverage, reason for visit, etc. For the most accurate information, please contact us.

When should my children have their first eye exam?

Children should have their first eye exam between 6 and 12 months of age for a baseline evaluation. Our office partners with the American Optometric Association (AOA) to provide these examinations at no cost to the parents through the InfantSee program. If the baseline exam is normal, the next exam should occur at 3 years, followed by another exam before the child begins school and annually from then on. An eye exam by a pediatrician or school nurse is not sufficient.

Why is there a separate charge for the contact lens evaluation?

Contact lenses could damage your eye if they are not prescribed and worn correctly. Because of this, they require additional tests and time on the part of the doctor.

How much are contact lenses?

Prices vary depending on brand and type. We offer competitive pricing as well as value-added benefits such as replacement lenses, additional rebates and more.

Can I use my eyeglasses prescription to buy glasses elsewhere?

Yes, but we cannot guarantee the quality of eyewear that you purchase outside of our office – especially from online vendors.
